Sonification as a Means to Generative Music - My PhD thesis

Between 2012 and 2020 I completed a PhD in the Department of Music at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Dr Adrian Moore. The research explores sonification (taking data and turning it into sound) as a way of creating generative music.

The original versions of many of the pieces are now out of commission, as the websites and data sources they depended on have changed or disappeared. I am currently resurrecting the works as working web pieces. Some are close reconstructions of the originals; others have been substantially rewritten or reworked to bring them back to life using contemporary web technologies and, where necessary, new data sources.
