Speaker Plants

Part of the 'quadraphonic' group show and my residency at Bank Street Arts this was a sound sculpture using loudspeakers arranged in organic forms resembling plants. I'd read about Brian Eno creating 'speaker flowers' so I thought I'd go a step further an plant mine in actual compost. To reflect the durational nature of the exhibition the sculptures changed over time – in other words the plants grew. The sonic element consisted of material triggered by weather information, with the sounds changing in response to changes in heat, rain and light, just as normal plants might.
