Speaker Plant

Installed as part of 'Listen Up' group show at CADS (creative arts development space), Sheffield.

This work explored the sculptural potential of speaker cones and connecting wires with the intention arriving at a composition that had an organic plant like quality - influenced by a picture I saw of Robin Minard's installations (I had no idea what they sounded like). Having that idea as a starting point it seemed appropriate to populate this plant with some wildlife, so the soundtrack which it is playing has been made from a recording of cicadas that I took whilst visiting a friend and working on his allotment in Berkeley, California.
